Our Story
The vision is to modernise and integrate chess into various settings, offering a meaningful and stimulating break from routine. Chess is a game for everyone—requiring only the power of thought.

The Journey of ChessRing
ChessRing began in the summer of 2020, when founder Abdul Abeshinbioke started playing street chess on London’s Southbank to reconnect after lockdown. Those spontaneous games sparked a simple idea: real human connection happens across a chessboard.
While studying political science in New York City, Abdul honed the vision at Washington Square Park, where blitz chess brought strangers together daily.
From 2021 to 2023, ChessRing ran monthly tournaments for players of all levels — not just for prizes, but for community. At its heart, ChessRing is about people, purpose, and the power of play.
